The Westermann range of weed and moss brushes are a great alternative to pressure washing for the removal of moss and light weeds; used by both the commercial industry and domestic users alike, it is great for use on surfaces such as block paving, concrete and tarmac as well as sports or rubber play surfaces.
With the Westermann WR870 you can now clear moss and debris efficiently usually in one pass - although a second pass may be required to clear stubborn spots, without the need to use harsh and potentially dangerous chemicals. Equipped with a wire brush, the Westermann WR870 will remove thick moss and light weeds from any hard surface thanks to the clockwise and anti-clockwise rotation of the brush which allows you to get into the cracks and crevices where the moss resides. As well as replacing chemical treatments, this is also a great alternative to high-pressure water which can become messy and involves the need for both a power and water supply near to the area of work.
Quality and performance comes as standard with a Honda engine.
This model is equipped with the Honda GCVx170 OHC 4-stroke which is ideal for domestic and occasional use and is offered as the 'budget' version of the two available. While you may save money, you do not compromise on power or performance. As well as these additional benefits It delivers an impressive 4hp and now as of Feb 2026, it includes a professional warranty of 3 years on the body giving you additional peace of mind with your purchase. Engine warranty remains unchanged = 3 months for commercial use and 1 year when used domestically.
Manufactured in Germany, this belt driven moss brush comes with a jockey wheel located underneath the brush that allows you to adjust the height of the bristles to suit the task at hand. A light brushing action is easy to attain with the brush set on a higher level and a more aggressive brushing action, if required, is achieved with the brush set lower down.
Although is safe to use the brush set to the harshest option without causing damage to block paving, tarmac and concrete, it is always recommended to carry out a test patch first.

Supplied as standard with a wire brush, you are ready to get going straight from taking delivery. This brush is estimated to last 3'000 - 5'000m² and will easily clear moss, light weeds and even carry out snow clearance on most surfaces. There are other brushes are available separately which will allow you to work on a number of surfaces and are designed to tackle different problems, they are easy to change and will take approximately 5 minutes to do so. The founder of Westermann, Alfons Westermann, began life as a locksmith. At the age of 23 he went to Osnabrück for further education to become a mechanical engineering technician. He was only 25 years old when he took the step into self-employment – only 2 months later, in November 1989, he presented his motorized radial sweeper at an exhibition in Frankfurt. Here he found his first contacts to customers from the agricultural sector.
First the company was housed in Mr. Westermann's parent’s barn, then it moved into an old dairy of the village Lengerich. In 1995 a factory of 400 m² was built. Seven years later this was enlarged to 600 m². After continuing to grow the company one final move to Meppen, which is where it is located today. After purchasing an adjoining complex in 2014 now the company currently has 7000 m² of manufacturing space and an office complex on a total land area of two hectares. So there is space for further expansion!
