Digital Fleet Management with Stihl Connected

Whether you are a home gardener or the manager of a fleet of powered garden and landscape machinery for your local council, Stihl Connected could be for you.

Stihl Connected records the runtime of each machine and notifies the user when maintenance tasks are upcoming, due or overdue.  Oil changes, important greasing and lubrication services and air filter inspections are all examples of the type of tasks that Stihl Connected can remind you about.  These maintenance tasks are bespoke to each machine type and will ensure that safety levels are maintained and down time is kept to an absolute minimum.

What’s required?

All you need to get started is at least one Smart Connector and a smart phone or a tablet to download the app onto.  It couldn’t be simpler!  There are two types of Smart Connector.

The Stihl Smart Connector

The Smart Connector is a sensor with a diameter of just under 5cm, which is mounted on the tool. It can be mounted on petrol, electric or battery-powered tools where it records and saves the operating hours while the motor is running and transmits this information via Bluetooth® 4.2 to the STIHL connected App.  Smart Connectors can even be used on third party machinery, not just Stihl equipment, such as drills, forklifts and even motorbikes.

The Stihl Smart Connector 2A

Smart Connector 2A connects directly into the control module of selected professional AP System battery machines. As well as runtime, Smart Connector 2A also collects information on the operating speed, the status of individual electronic components and ambient temperature. Also features a real time clock, meaning the data is collected accurately regardless of how often the connector syncs with a smartphone, so you can see when and for how long the tool was used. Pressing the button on the Smart Connector 2 A gives a quick indication of the status of the machine via an LED light, and highlights if a maintenance task is due. The LED can also be used in conjunction with the STIHL connected App to identify individual machines (by lighting up a LED on the connector) in large fleets.

The Stihl Connected App

The free Stihl connected app is your digital tool shed. In it you have an overview of all of your power tools and can see exactly when any maintenance is due.  Smart Connectors can connect to multiple smartphones, meaning that even if the tool is shared between a team, information is always up-to-date.
