The STIHL MS 182 is new from STIHL and is offered as a replacement for the MS 181; it is a powerful petrol chainsaw and is ideal for the domestic user. It is great for cutting firewood, carrying out garden maintenance tasks and the felling of small trees with a diameter up to 30cm. With its small size and an option of a 16" or 14" bar, it is manoeuvrable and lightweight making it easy to operate and with the anti-vibration system, you can do so for extended periods of time. The single-lever master control handle houses all the important functions such as stop & start, choke and throttle giving you complete control in one easy to use lever.
The 2-MIX engine is more environmentally-friendly and economical giving you up to 20% lower fuel consumption than regular 2-stroke engines and a significantly reduced level of exhaust emissions and with the compensator located in the carburettor keeping the fuel/air ratio constant, you get more power for longer. The air filter will have a much longer life meaning you do not need to carry out any maintenance to the filter until you notice an appreciable drop in power helping to keep maintenance costs to a minimum.
This saw really is easy to use with its tool free filler caps on the oil and fuel tanks and the side mounted chain tensioner, it is designed for domestic users that do not have a range of special tools or experience with the more heavy-duty range of power tools. This new model also has a convenient control lever which will automatically return to the idle position to aid with restarting whilst still warm and to reduce the likelihood of flooding.
